Motherhood! What a journey it is. I was able to photograph this beautiful momma and her baby girl all snuggled up in their home here in Boise, Idaho spending time doing what they’ve done together for over 18 months. Nursing! Capturing the little details, light and connection that they share was such an honor. As any momma who has nursed her baby knows, it takes time, energy and dedication- but it’s such a rewarding and incredible connection you form over time. This photo gallery is full of images that show a small part of their big journey.

One of my favorite parts of this photo session was getting in close and capturing the details of the baby. Some days feel so long, but time really goes by all too fast. We think we will remember each little thing about our baby. It seems impossible to forget that baby smell, their weight in our arms, how they perfectly fit nestled on our bodies. Somehow, one day we realize that suddenly then those little rolls, dimples for knuckles and silky baby hair all disappeared. What a gift to have so many of those memories in the form of a photograph to keep as a heirloom for years to come.
